once and again [ fic | Red vs. Blue | Wash/York modern-day AU ]
Okay, so. This is a modern-day/reincarnation AU set after Recursion and also after one version of the ending to it, in which AI!York goes rampant and dies after about five years and Wash survives, and also in which they were together (though being bros/partners came first). Mallory is my headcanon name for Carolina.
This is kind of disjointed, and it doesn’t end cleanly, but there’s 70,000+ words of RP that follow it, so. This is just the fic part.
Chii wrote a couple of lines of dialogue in the middle and came up with one of the scenes, as well as the last three paragraphs.writing york is hard okay can’t i just stick to wash

love how you write Wash here, like his life is just about burnt out and he knows it so he doesn’t waste his energy on anything that isn’t important (IF THAT MAKES SENSE). and York is just spot-on perfect in every charming, roguish way.
